HOW WE EVALUATE:
We use a combination of certificates, transcripts, syllabi, and program descriptions to evaluate the following:
- Coach-Specific Training: We first evaluate whether a program is coaching-specific as defined by industry standards. Coaching is a process and set of skill competencies that view and honor the client as the expert in their life, work, and growth process. Authentic coaching does not include "first journey" mentoring, teaching, consulting, advising, cheerleading, or guiding, where the provider shows a client the direction to go. Coaching takes a client on the "second journey" of self-directed self-discovery. Only coach-specific training hours under this definition are transferable.
- Content Equivalency: The second thing we evaluate is content equivalency. For example, if a coach training program included somatic coaching, those hours would transfer to our somatic coach training classes.
- Proficiency: In the event the course content equivalency is not discernible or is non-accredited, we can evaluate for proficiency in the ICF coaching core competencies. The transfer applicant has the option of submitting a 30-minute recorded coaching session for review. An ICF trained evaluator will review the session using the PCC Markers to see if the applicant is trained and proficient in Level One coaching skills. A proficiency evaluation is $150.
