Life Reflection #5: Seasons of Change | Certified Professional Coaching

9/30/2022

A new color already? In June, my husband and I relocated to Pennsylvania from Arizona. Talk about a contrast! We went from 20-foot cacti and bark scorpions to an explosion of green, babbling creeks, and wildflowers.

One thing I’ve noticed so far is that every 2-3 weeks there is a new wildflower that nature features here. The flowers grow like weeds and pop up everywhere. The first few weeks, they were tall and purple. The next round was vibrant orange lilies. After that, the dainty white flowers in the brush popped up. Now, we have small tangerine snapdragon-style wildflowers everywhere.

Just today taking the dogs on a walk in the rain, we came across the newest bloom that looks like purple bluebells.

These seasons of new life are truly amazing and fun to watch. Especially the firefly season which was spectacular!

I realized this process that nature displays are the same in our lives. When we grow and stretch in new ways, new potentials surface. A new form of our self gets to show up. We get to share our new gifts with the world.

Awhile back I was sitting in contemplation and realized, “We don’t create possibilities. They already exist.” But we can create opportunities to access the possibilities that surround us. That is where life gets fun! I’ve also learned from a mentor of mine, Nancy Smyth, that possibilities also exist within us. These are human virtues like love, forgiveness, compassion, zest, and grace. I've identified over 75, and I’m sure there are more.

It excites me that we can activate these possibilities anytime we need, and anytime we are willing. There have been times I admittedly was unwilling to activate anything and stuck in my resentments or anger. But possibilities were still there! Waiting for me to say yes to them.

I’ve come to see all these virtues as the wildflowers of life that we can say yes to as they do brighten lives.

I’m curious what wildflowers are you activating in your life?

A Tribute to our beloved friend, Coach & Mentor: Sandy Hogan | Scholarship & E- Book
by: Laurel Elders, MCC, CEC

On September 21, 2019, the Lord called our friend, Sandy Hogan, home. Sandy played a key role in helping develop our outstanding processes at the Institute. She was a certified Integral Coach and a lead program instructor. We love and miss her dearly. If you didn't get a chance to meet her, we'd love to share her legacy with you.

Sandy was truly a Renaissance woman. She was a very talented artist and designer, who worked in many mediums. She was an award-winning photographer, potter, jewelry maker, and paper artist.
Sandy loved to create special personalized pieces for her friends and family. They cherished the handmade cards, pottery, and jewelry she crafted for them. Sandy loved singing and had a one-woman recital for her friends and family. As an avid collector, Sandy loved to find just the right item at just the right price.

Sandy also loved her dogs and rescued many PBGVs (Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen) over the years. She worked tirelessly with the Humane Society and the PBGV Health and Rescue Foundation.

We are grateful for the lasting impact that she left on the Institute and hope you enjoy today's tribute to her.

I first met Sandy in 2006. I was fresh out of coaching school. I happened to sit next to her at our local ICF chapter holiday party. In her amazing eloquence, she took me in to mentor under her. Over the next few years, she invited another newer coach and me to come and visit with her each week. In exchange for her mentoring, she said, "Just bring me lunch. Surprise me!"  It was life changing.

She was my first introduction to the caliber of possibility that coaching held so high. She was my first introduction to my True-Self. She was truly amazing and inspiring! I would have left my calling and passion for coaching in the dust, if it were not for her tutelage, love, and coaching heart.

Before she passed, I had the honor of caring for her.  She allowed me to ask her questions, and I would scribe her answers. These reflections are captured below:

She was with us when the idea of the Institute was still in seedling, and then took root for the first time in 2011, with Prescott College. She will be with us always and in all ways.

Our Dearest Sandy:
We are the torch holders of your profound wisdom, inspirational teachings, and brilliant coaching legacy. We will continue to deliver the highest caliber trainings in your honor, for decades to come.
We were blessed to have you with us from the start, a brick in the foundation of our heart.
With Love,
Laurel

Spring 2022 Cohort Student Ceremony & Reflection hosted in Tucson, AZ - Online Coach Certification Training

Spring 2022 Student Ceremony Reflection

Our programs consist of interactive webinars and two, four day coaching intensives. Each of our
intensives we really consider learning retreats. We have fun, connect and go deep into the learning
and growth.

The second four day learning retreat was just held amidst the Sonoran Desert of Tucson, Az. We
gathered in the L Offices with a full view of the Catalina Mountains.

We kicked off Thursday morning connecting and reflecting on everything the students in the Spring
2022 cohort had learned so far. One of our primary integration frameworks we cover is the Map to
Mastery. Each point on the map includes 4-5 integrative tools and frameworks to support a client
within their window of tolerance. This ensures the client has the capacity to make ample progress with
what they are working on.

By the time this capstone learning retreat comes about, we’ve covered over 20 integration frameworks
in addition to phasing each student into the PCC level, and beginning MCC level, coaching
competencies.

The second learning retreat is four days of intensive integration. We weave all the learning together
and also reflect on growth that happened personally. Many of our students walk away with a new,
more empowered, way of being in their life, coaching and beyond.
During our time together, we cover the advanced topics like the Neurobiology of Emotional Intelligence and Somatics, Coaching to Wholeness through our own Wholeness, the Nine Levels of Development, the Enneagram, Compassionate Communication and coaching ethics.

We wrap up on the fourth day with a group lunch from a locally owned restaurant, a Coaching Panel,
activities on developing your coaching voice, group huddle and then come together to celebrate
completing the class time together.

These are a just a few of the moments we captured together from our Spring Cohort:
